Can you prove that you are a Christian?

In John 15:8, Jesus says, “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so PROVE to be my disciples.”

Paul instructs in 2 Cor. 13:5, “EXAMINE yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. TEST yourselves.”

Peter exhorts in 2 Pet. 1:10, “Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to CONFIRM your calling an election…”

So here’s a sample checklist of 10 habitual actions based on “The Sermon on the Mount” in Matt. Chap. 5-7 and 9 consistent attitudes based on “The Fruit of the Spirit” in Gal. 5:22-23.

Do not assume. If you are not sure, repent and believe in the Gospel! If you are sure, increase in them. Actions

  1. Reading the Bible (Matt. 7:12).
  2. Praying for yourself and others (Matt. 6:5).
  3. Fasting for confession and needs (Matt. 6:16).
  4. Forgiving others (Matt. 6:12).
  5. Helping financially and inquiry (Matt. 6:2).
  6. Serving God with love by serving others (Matt. 6:24).
  7. Seeking God first instead of worrying (Matt. 6:33).
  8. Obeying God and not just hearing (Matt. 7:21,24)
  9. Evangelizing with the Gospel (Matt. 6:13, 14)
  10. Doing good works for God’s glory (Matt. 5:16)

Attitudes:

  1. Love for God and others.
  2. Joy in the Lord always.
  3. Peace of God that surpasses all understanding.
  4. Patience towards others.
  5. Kindness towards everyone.
  6. Goodness for others benefit.
  7. Faithfulness towards God and others.
  8. Gentleness towards all.
  9. Self-Control for Godly living.

In the end, we want to hear Jesus say, “Well done, good and faithful servant” and not, “I never knew you. Depart from me.”
