In John 15:8, Jesus says, “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so PROVE to be my disciples.”
Paul instructs in 2 Cor. 13:5, “EXAMINE yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. TEST yourselves.”
Peter exhorts in 2 Pet. 1:10, “Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to CONFIRM your calling an election…”
So here’s a sample checklist of 10 habitual actions based on “The Sermon on the Mount” in Matt. Chap. 5-7 and 9 consistent attitudes based on “The Fruit of the Spirit” in Gal. 5:22-23.
Do not assume. If you are not sure, repent and believe in the Gospel! If you are sure, increase in them. Actions
- Reading the Bible (Matt. 7:12).
- Praying for yourself and others (Matt. 6:5).
- Fasting for confession and needs (Matt. 6:16).
- Forgiving others (Matt. 6:12).
- Helping financially and inquiry (Matt. 6:2).
- Serving God with love by serving others (Matt. 6:24).
- Seeking God first instead of worrying (Matt. 6:33).
- Obeying God and not just hearing (Matt. 7:21,24)
- Evangelizing with the Gospel (Matt. 6:13, 14)
- Doing good works for God’s glory (Matt. 5:16)
Attitudes:
- Love for God and others.
- Joy in the Lord always.
- Peace of God that surpasses all understanding.
- Patience towards others.
- Kindness towards everyone.
- Goodness for others benefit.
- Faithfulness towards God and others.
- Gentleness towards all.
- Self-Control for Godly living.
In the end, we want to hear Jesus say, “Well done, good and faithful servant” and not, “I never knew you. Depart from me.”
