Our Beliefs
Our doctrinal statement clearly outlines our position on the major biblical truths of the Christian faith.
DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
We have summarized each topic and provided references to validate our beliefs
We believe that the 66 books in the Bible or the Scripture, 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament, from Genesis to Revelation were written by men under the plenary verbal inspiration of God through the Holy Spirit. The original documents were infallible and inerrant and the Word of God is absolutely authoritative and sufficient for our faith and practice.
(2 Tim. 3:16, 2 Pet. 1:21, Rom. 15:4, Matt. 5:18, Ps. 119:160, Prov. 30:5).
We believe there is only one true and living God who is eternal, perfect, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, immutable and self-existent
(Deut. 6:4, Isa. 45:5, 1 Cor. 8:4, Ps. 90:2, Rom. 16:26, Ps. 18:30, Ps. 19:7, Matt. 5:48, 1 Jn. 3:20, Lk. 1:37, Matt. 19:26, Ps. 139:7-10, Mal. 3:6, Ex. 3:14, Jn. 5:26).
We believe that God is one in essence and eternally exists in three distinct persons – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They are coequal and each of them are fully and completely God. As summarized in the Athanasian Creed, “We worship one God in Trinity and Trinity in Unity, neither confounding the Persons, nor dividing the substance.”
(Deut. 6:4, Gen. 1:26, Matt. 28:19, Jn. 20:21-22, 2 Cor. 13:14, Eph. 4:4-6, 1 Jn. 5:20, Acts 5:3-4).
We believe that God the Father, the first Person of the Trinity is the originator of all created things. As the Creator, His fatherhood is in relation to all mankind in the general providential sense and also in relation to the believers in the special spiritual sense. He is the source of redemption, election, predestination, justification, adoption, sanctification and glorification. He has decreed that everything is for His glory. In addition, within the Trinity, He is the Father to the Son and He alone is unbegotten and without spiration.
(1 Cor. 8:6, Eph. 3:9, Eph. 4:6, Eph. 3:15, Gal. 4:6, Rom. 8:16, Matt. 5:48, Jam. 1:17, 1 Jn. 3:1, Isa. 52:13, Isa. 53:10, Eph. 1:4-5, Rom. 9:22-23, Rom. 3:26, Jn. 17:17, 1 Thess. 5:23, Rom. 8:30, Rom. 11:33-36, Phil. 2:11, 1 Cor. 10:31, 1 Pet. 4:11, Jn. 3:16, Matt. 11:27)
We believe that God the Son, the second Person of the Trinity is the channel through whom God the Father has created everything. The Son in His incarnation as Jesus Christ added humanity to His divinity thereby becoming the God-Man, truly God and truly man, a single person with two distinct natures and as the Chalcedonian Creed states, “without confusion, change, division or separation”, so that He can represent God to us and represent us to God.
Being conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, Jesus lived a sinless life by fulfilling all the requirements of the Law and died a sacrificial death on the Cross on behalf of His people. Through His resurrection, Christ has defeated death, destroyed the devil and discharged us from sin. He is the Savior of the world, the Mediator between God and man and the Redeemer of those who would believe in Him.
(Isa. 9:6, 1 Cor. 8:6, Col. 1:15-16, Heb. 1:2-3, Heb. 1:8, Phil. 2:6-8, Jn. 1:18, Heb. 2:17, Jn. 14:6, Jn. 3:35, 1 Jn. 5:9-12, Matt. 1:18-20, Matt. 3:15, Matt. 5:17, Heb. 4:15, Gal. 3:13, 1 Pet. 2:24, Matt. 1:21, 2 Cor. 5:21, 1 Cor. 15:55, Heb. 2:14, 1 Jn. 3:8, Rom. 6:7, Rev. 1:5, Jn. 4:42, 1 Tim. 2:5, Titus 2:14)
We believe that God the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity is the agent through whom God the Father has created everything. The Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force or power but a divine person who has a mind, speaks, judges, helps, reveals, wills, intercedes, convicts, regenerates, dwells, teaches, reminds, guides, transforms, enlightens, empowers, strengthens, sanctifies, leads and can be rebelled against, blasphemed, resisted, grieved. His work was manifested in a greater and fuller way from the day of Pentecost to initiate and complete the building of the body of Christ, which is the church.
The Spirit was sent by the Father and the Son to glorify the Son. He produces the spiritual fruit in a believer and distributes the spiritual gifts among believers. Though the speaking and serving gifts exist even today, the miraculous gifts including speaking in tongues, prophesying and healing have ceased as they had fulfilled their purpose of pointing to and authenticating the Apostles and that the Word of God in its entirety has been delivered once for all to the saints. They were not intended to be the normal experience in the life of believers and are not to be considered as the evidence of one’s faith.
(Gen. 1:2, Ps. 33:6, Job 33:4, Ps. 104:30, Rom. 8:27, Acts 8:29, Acts 10:19, Acts 13:2, Acts 5:3-11, Rom. 8:26, Jn. 15:26, 1 Cor. 2:10, Eph. 3:5, 1 Cor. 12:11, Rom. 8:26, Jn. 16:7-8, Jn. 3:5-6, Titus 3:5, Rom. 8:9, Jn. 14:26, Jn. 16:13, 2 Cor. 3:18, 1 Cor. 2:12, Acts 1:8, 1 Cor. 12:11, Eph. 3:16, 1 Cor. 6:11, Gal. 5:18, Rom. 8:14, Isa. 63:10, Mark 3:29, Acts 7:51, Eph. 4:30, Acts 1:5, Acts 2:4, Eph. 2:18-22, Eph. 1:22, Acts 9:31, 1 Cor. 14:12, Jn. 14:25, Jn. 15:26, Jn. 16:14, Gal. 5:22-23, 1 Cor. 12:11, Jn. 16:14, 1 Pet. 4:10-11, 1 Cor. 13:8, 2 Tim. 4:20, 1 Tim. 5:23, Heb. 2:1-4, Jude 3)
We believe that man was directly created by God in His own image, after His likeness. The mankind is either male or female and the woman was made to be a helper fit for her husband. They were spiritually, morally and ethically good and were to glorify God by their obedience, enjoy fellowship with God and accomplish the purpose of God in this world. But because of Adam’s willful disobedience, sin came into the world and brought physical and spiritual death which results in eternal condemnation and hell.
As the sinful nature was passed on, all humans became corrupt falling short of the glory of God. Being incapable and unable to seek God and to do good perfectly, the only way for anyone to be saved from the wrath of God is through faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ alone. It is solely a gracious act of God and this free gift to an individual is not a result of any human works including religious piety and social activities. Salvation belongs only to God and so it is secure forever.
(Gen. 1:26-27, Gen. 2:7, Jam. 3:9, Gen. 9:6, Gen. 2:18, Gen. 1:31, Gen. 2:25, Isa. 43:7, Gen. 3:8, Gen. 1:28-30, Gen. 2:15, Gen. 2:16, Rom. 5:19, Rom. 5:12, Rom. 5:18, Eph. 2:1-3, Job 15:14-16, Ps. 53:1-3, Ecc. 7:20, 2 Pet. 2:19, Ps. 51:5, Rom. 3:23, Jer. 17:9, Rom. 3:11-12, Acts 4:12, Rom. 5:9-10, Eph. 2:8-9, Rom. 3:23, Rom. 5:15-17, Ps. 3:8, Jon. 2:9, Rev. 7:10, John 10:28-29, Jude 24)
We believe in the noticeable physical return of Jesus Christ before the seven-year tribulation. When He comes, He will bring all the dead saints. Their bodies will rise from the ground to be united with their souls and the believers living on earth at that time will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air which is generally referred to as the “Rapture”. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, they will all have the resurrected body.
Following the removal of the church comes a seven-year period of satanic dominance on earth, which gets worse in the last three and a half years called as the “Great Tribulation” or as the “Jacob’s Trouble”. During the period of tribulation, many of the signs that were predicted to happen before Christ’s reign on earth will be fulfilled. It will include the effective evangelism especially carried out by the new Jewish Christians and the great ingathering of the fullness of the Jews as they believe in Jesus.
Following the tribulation, Christ will return and establish His millennial kingdom on earth. Satan will be bound for a thousand years and after that he will be released for a little while when he will deceive the nations. At the end of that time, there will be a rebellion, resulting in the final and conclusive defeat of Satan who will be thrown in the lake of fire and sulfur to be tormented day and night forever and ever. Then comes the resurrection of unbelievers, the last judgement, and the eternal state with a new heaven and a new earth where righteousness dwells. “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!”
